Review of Attachment Styles Essay Review of Attachment Styles Essay 1 Review of Attachment Styles Mary Ainsworth and Mary Main (Disorganized) In view of Ainsworth’s â€Å"Strange Situation† Procedure (1970’s) The Strange Situation test uncovered two general classes of newborn child connection styles: 1) Secure connection 2) Insecure connection: o 2a) Avoidant connection o 2b) Ambivalent connection 2 o 2c) Disorganized connection (this style was found later by specialist Mary Fundamental) Secure Attachment - the 'Perfect' Attachment Behavior The youngster's connection conduct when their: Mother is available: o The youngster shows secure connection by having a sense of security enough to investigate the world and participate in play. o The mother's nearness makes what is called 'secure base' - a space of security from which the youngster feels to allowed to investigate the world. Mother leaves: o The kid fights - for example by crying or attempting to recover closeness. o The pain isn't frantic as the youngster confides in their mom to return. Mother returns: o The youngster gives indications of being satisfied or is immediately support in the event that the individual is vexed. o The youngster will soon return 'secure base' and have a sense of security enough to play once more. The youngster's conduct towards the outsider: The youngster will here and there be helped by the outsider however obviously inclines toward their mom. Mother's responsiveness: Reacts rapidly and reliably to her youngster's signs of needing solace and security. o The youngster feels certain that their mom will assist ful with filling any necessities when they happen. Avoidant Attachment - Passive Attachment Behavior The youngster's conduct when their: Mother is available: o Little or no enthusiasm for energetic cooperation. o Prefers to play with object as opposed to individuals. o Seems sincerely removed from their mom. Mother leaves: o Hardly any indication of partition trouble, lack of interest. Mother returns: o The kid barely shows any noticeable response, if any whatsoever. o The youngster doesn't generally react to contact endeavors. o The kid may even attempt to keep away from contact and overlook their mom. 3 The youngster's conduct towards the outsider: The youngster demonstrations similarly towards the more bizarre as towards the mother; there is by all accounts no inclination.
